Fall Sports Information

Panther Nation - Fall Sports are set to start on 8.13.25!  Make sure ALL required forms have been submitted PRIOR to 8.13.  

NO ATHLETE WILL BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT UNTIL ALL REQUIRED FORMS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED.  

$30 Sports Physicals Available (with pre-registration) on 8/2 and 8/9 at University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc. Urgent Care Building 5890 Waterloo Road, Columbia - see flier for details

Fall Sports:  Cross Country, Football, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Golf, Fall Cheer, and Volleyball

Tryout Dates:  8/13-8/15 - Practices will start on Saturday, 8/16

Required Forms:  ALL Required Forms MUST be submitted online through a Parent's HCPSS Connect Account PRIOR to athletes being able to participate

  • Physical - dated AFTER 8/13/24 - link to physical form to take to doctor
  • Parent Permission Form with Insurance Information
  • Proof of Residency - BGE, Water, or Cable Bill (from the last 3 months) or a copy of a current lease or mortgage
  • Trouble Uploading Forms....take pictures and email them along with the name of the athlete and the sport to the Athletic Director - mlerner@hcpss.org.

CHANGES TO HCPSS EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY POLICY (9070) - EFFECTIVE FALL 2025

  • NEW:  Athletes must earn a minimum of a 2.0 GPA for the marking period prior to the beginning of the season with no more than 2 failing grades (change from 1 failing grade).  All incoming (rising) 9th graders are eligible for fall sports participation without meeting any grade requirement
  • NEW:  IF an athlete is NOT eligible for participation in sports/extra-curricular activities) they may use a 1 TIME EXEMPTION) to become eligible for 1 season.
    • The athlete is required to submit a plan on how to become eligible/improve academics to the Athletic Director PRIOR to their participation
    • EACH ATHLETE EARNS 1 EXEMPTION IN THEIR HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
    • The athlete MUST be promoted to the next grade to qualify for the one-time exemption.
