Dear GPHS Community,

A lot of progress has been made at GPHS over these past few weeks.  Ridgelys Run Road is close to being finished (Mission Road entrance will be partially open on August 9 for the start of Fall Sports), our name has been installed on the front of the building, and our book collection has been delivered! With the help of a number of our coaches,  Mr. Lerner, AAM, has been inventorying and getting athletic equipment ready for the start of Fall Sports. 

In addition, our website is now live. There you will find news/important events, the list of staff  to date (staff arrive 8/17), and the school calendar. We will continue to update this site with announcements and important information. 

Looking forward to next week:  on Tuesday, July 25 from 6:30-8pm there will be a GPHS Student and Family Band Meeting at the Elkridge Library. This is an opportunity to begin building our band family, talk about our vision and the ways we can each help make this a great program for the community. Save the Date:  Virtual Fall Sports Information/Meet the Coaches Night - Thursday 8/2 @ 6:30pm

All fall athletes and parents are encouraged to attend the GPHS Fall Sports Virtual Information Night on Thursday 8/3 @ 6:30 PM.  This google meet will feature a brief overview of high school athletics, what to expect as an athlete/spectator, followed by break out rooms for each fall sport led by the coaches.  During the break-out rooms you will get specific information about the tryout process and an opportunity to ask questions.

The fall sports tryout times are posted below.  PLEASE remember - ALL required forms must be uploaded through a parent's hcpss.connect account or emailed to the GPHS Athletic Director (MLerner@hcpss.org) by 8/8 in order to tryout.  A checklist of required items and coach's contact information is also listed below.  Questions - email your coach or the Athletic Director, Coach Lerner @ MLerner@hcpss.org.

Fall Athlete/Family Checklist

1.  Make sure you have all required forms completed and uploaded through a parent's hcpss.connect account prior to 8/8/23.  Here is a link to the directions.  

Need to print out the physical form or parent permission form?  Here is the link.  

Problems with registering online through hcpss.connect? - Email the student-athlete's name, sport they are interested in, a copy/picture of the completed physical form, parent permission form (with insurance information), and a recent (within the last 3 months) copy of a BGE bill, cable bill, lease, or mortgage to the Athletic and Activities Manager - Michael Lerner @ Mlerner@hcpss.org 

2.  Reach out to your coach to make sure you are getting information as it becomes available.  If there is no coach listed for the sport you are interested in trying out for, keep checking back as we are continually hiring coaches.

3.  Make sure you are working on your craft, getting excited, and telling your friends to come out for a team with you and to be a part of building the legacy of PANTHER NATION!

Walk/Bike Paths at GPHS

GPHS will have paved pathways throughout our campus. Walkers and bike riders will be able to access the paths through two entry points - Carbo Drive (new development) and Rose Lane. Both access points will be ready in August. In addition, multiple bike racks have been installed around the building and campus.
