Information about PSAT Day - Wednesday, October 16th, 2024

Mon, 10/07/2024 - 11:37am

Information for 10th and 11th Grade Students/Families:

On October 16th, Guilford Park High School will be administering the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) to 10th and 11th grade students. PSAT Testing Room assignments will be distributed to students on Friday, October 11th and posted in the school for review.

This year, students will access the PSAT test with the BlueBook app on their HCPSS Chromebook devices. On test day, students will need to bring their fully charged HCPSS Chromebook and charger to test. Students verified their access to the BlueBook app on their HCPSS devices this week in English classes.

Other electronic devices (including, but not limited to, cell phones, ear buds, and smart watches, etc.) are NOT permitted during testing. Students should leave these devices at home or in locked lockers or they may be placed into backpacks and stored in front of their testing room. Any unapproved electronic device violation will be reported to CollegeBoard, scores may be invalidated, and devices may be confiscated.

Students are also prohibited from wearing hoods or brimmed hats during the administration of the test this year. Hooded shirts can be worn, but the hood must be kept down during the test.

Any students arriving to school after 8:15am will not be able to participate in PSAT testing. It is imperative that students arrive to school on time this day if they wish to participate in PSAT testing.

For students receiving accommodations, please note that the only accommodations given during the PSAT are those that have been approved by CollegeBoard. Contact your student’s case manager for more information about requesting accommodations through CollegeBoard for future testing.

For more information about the PSAT, you can view the College Board website or the PSAT/NMSQT (Grade 10/11) Student Guide: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/psat-nmsqt-student-guide.pdf

Information for 9th Grade Students/Families:

9th grade students will be participating in a specific 9th grade activity during the PSAT testing window as 9th grade students are ineligible to take the PSATs this year. During this activity, they will be participating in community building, college and career readiness, and high-school academic support activities. 9th grade room assignments will be distributed to students on Friday, October 11th and posted in the school for review. Students should bring their Chromebook, charger, and normal school supplies.
